Indianapolis Christmas Lights

Are you down for a little, day adventure? Greater Lafayette has a ton of fun ways to celebrate Christmas in a special way, but with a relatively short drive to Indianapolis, you can build unique, extra-special memories with the people around you. We’ve mentioned here a few of the main to-do’s we recommend! Be sure to check these out.

Carmel Christkindlmarkt (Carmel, IN): Open from November 19 – December 30, 2022. “The Carmel Christkindlmarkt is bringing the charm of a long standing European tradition to the heart of Carmel, Indiana. The Christmas market tradition stretches back to Saxony, Germany during the middles ages. Over the centuries, the joys of the traditional Christmas markets spread from town to town, and around the world! Christkindlmarkt is the German name for the traditional Christmas market, literally translated as ‘Christ child market.’”

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: Closed
  • Thursday: 4:00 – 9:00 P.M.
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Noon – 9:00 P.M.

Christmas at the Zoo (Indianapolis Zoo; Indianapolis, IN): Enjoy Christmas at the Zoo with your family! The entire zoo decks its halls with lights galore! Don’t miss the shop set up to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus or to see a real reindeer!

  • Open from NOV 19 – DEC 30
    • 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. everyday and open until 10:00 P.M. Friday & Saturday. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Winterlights at Newfields (Newfields at the Indianapolis Museum of ArtIndianapolis, IN): A beautiful sight to behold! Newfields outdoes itself with 1.5 million lights dancing around the Eli Lily house grounds. This year they’re also offering special glasses that turn everything into a shimmering snowflake!

  • November 20th – January 8th, 2020 from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M

Lights at the Brickyard (Indianapolis Motor Speedway; Speedway, IN): “Lights at the Brickyard… feature[s] dozens of colorful displays totaling more than three million bright lights on a 2-mile course through the IMS infield and historic oval, including the front stretch and world-famous “Yard of Bricks” start-finish line.”
