Memorial Day 2021 in Greater Lafayette

Memorial Day not only marks the beginning of summer in the Midwest, but it honors those before us who have laid their lives down for our country. Memorial Day celebrations near and far host speakers from Veterans, 21 gun salutes, parades, and so much more.

The Greater Lafayette, IN area has a few things going on this Memorial Day. Here’s a short list of things to check out:

Memorial Day Parade (Lafayette, IN): 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. “We will be hosting a Memorial Day parade to honor and mourn those who died while serving in the U.S. Military, and to pay tribute to our veterans who were isolated during the past year. The parade will start at 16th and Alabama Streets, proceed onto Main, turn onto Wallace Avenue by the Frozen Custard, go to Park Avenue and turn into the Columbian Park entrance. It is expected to last 30-45 minutes and will be followed by a program in the grassy area by the Train Depot inside the park.”

White County Memorial Day Ceremony (Monticello, IN): 1:00 P.M. “Public Ceremony honoring the military personnel who have died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Guest speakers: IN State Rep Don Lehe, Monticello Mayor Cathy Gross and White County Veteran Service Officer Tom Hildebrand.White County Honor Guard and Marine Corps League Det 1411 will perform a 21 gun military salute and play Taps in Remembrance of our fallen brothers and sisters.Public is encouraged to attend, the ceremony will take place at the Courthouse gazebo.”

Indiana Veterans’ Home Memorial Day Celebration (Indiana Veterans’ Home; West Lafayette, IN): This is an invitation only event. We just wanted to mention it to let the community know that this event does exist. “Indiana Veterans’ Home is holding a Memorial Day Ceremony to commemorate the men and women who died while in military service of the United States. The invitation-only ceremony will be held on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 9:30 am. IVH is celebrating their 125th Anniversary of Serving Those Who Served!”
