Snow Much Fun Around Greater Lafayette!

When the white, fluffy, flaky friend comes to town, there are snow many ways to enjoy it! Let us encourage you to get out and play! You won’t regret the memories made. Here are some of our best suggestions on how to enjoy these snowy, winter days to the max in Greater Lafayette, IN.

Here are the public sledding hills of Greater Lafayette, IN!

  • Murdock Park (Lafayette, IN): Murdock is a local family favorite. An artificial snow machine at this location guarantees killer sledding no matter the amount of snow that falls!
  • Slayter Hill (West Lafayette, IN): An iconic little spot where you can see Purdue University‘s campus decorated with snow. There are people of all shapes, ages, and sizes at this location, but this is a favorite for Purdue students.
  • Wea Ridge Elementary School (Lafayette, IN): Located on the south side of Lafayette, the incline of this hill is isolated into a valley area. The hill itself is on the north side of the school.
  • Happy Hallow Park (West Lafayette, IN): This park is a local favorite at all times of the year! Explore for its little bunny hills, trails, and a one tube shoot that blows your hair back as you shoot down.

Ice Skating

Visit Tapawingo Park in West Lafayette, IN for some ice skating fun. The Riverside Skating Center gives opportunity for open skate, family skate, private parties and lessons, season passes, and so much more. Click here to view admission prices and hours of operation! It is open for the season!

Prophetstown State Park

Did you know: cold air makes for less oxygen in the air, which makes your lungs work harder, giving you a better workout? Heading to Prophetstown State Park during the winter months (and snowy days), elevates and challenges your current workout plan! Even if you’re not an avid fitness guru, come out here to enjoy peace as the snow falls to the ground and amazing winter prairie views. Click here to view the location, hours, and admission prices!

Polar Plunge

Okay, so this might be a more unconventional activity, but if you’re up for it, it’s a great cause! Each year, Purdue University students come together for a purpose – the Special Olympics – and participate in a community wide polar plunge. This year, it’s on February 11, 2023 from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M., so maybe consider supporting! Or at least come on by for the entertainment!
